My Closet Transformation

Hola! A few of my Instagram followers had questions on the pieces I used to organize and tidy up my accessories in my walk-in closet that I share with my hubby. So I decided to blog about it :-).

I have a healthy appetite for all things accessories. My original weakness were shoes, then designer handbags, then it transitioned to scarves, and now I am obsessed large statement pieces of jewelry. Last year sometime I joined a jewelry subscription box and it has expanded my collection quick, fast and in a hurry. So in order to prepare space for the February pieces, I had to get organized.

SHELVING

I started off with the bookcase I found at IKEA. I think at the time it was on sale for $20 or $25. I was happy that it was way under budget, deep enough to hold all of my bags but fit perfectly in the little niche in our closet. Also I loved the fact that it has a top shelf where I could place my jewelry.

Initially I had my bags in their respective dust bags. This caused two problems in the shelving. One, it caused the bags to slip off the metal shelves. Two, I kept forgetting which bags I owned LOL. I have been in search for the perfect shade of red and I already owned it LOL.

JEWELRY STORAGE

Necklaces

I have alot of large bib necklaces and long necklaces. So I needed two solutions to keep them from being lost or tangled. For the bib type necklaces, I lay them on a necklace display similar to ones you see in the jewelry store. They now come in all different materials. I lean towards the wood tones for I love anything made by Indian artisans similar to this one. However you can find velvet ones and less expensive variations of the same idea at your local Marshall’s, HomeGoods, TJMaxx or craft stores such as Hobby Lobby and Michaels. For the long necklaces, I decided to hang them from the wall. You could use a pretty display hanger as I did OR you can hang them from nails in your wall. I am just not big on a lot of holes in my walls….so I went for the hanger in which I only had to make one hole in the wall :-).

Bracelets

The same goes for bracelets. Thanks to my sister from another mister (and misses) gifted me my first Alex & Ani bracelet (Wonder Woman), I have been obsessed with purchasing them every time they have a ridiculous sale. So I use a bracelet display to store them in a way that I can easily see what I own. For me, I struggle with out of sight out of mind. Just like the necklace displays, you can find bracelet displays at your local home decor and craft stores. Mine is similar to this one, although I found mine at HomeGoods. I actually need to find another one….maybe with 3 tiers for some of my Sassy Jones boutiques cuffs do not fit on the current tiers I have.

Earrings

I have been collecting earrings since I was able to convince my parents to allow me to get my ears pierced in middle school. However over time I end up losing one or both. So I was elated to find this at Michaels to keep them together. I love that is spends so I can feel like Cher in the movie “Clueless” when making my selection LOL.

Rings

So I do not wear many rings due to wearing a wedding ring daily. However, I have a few statement pieces that I like to slide on from time to time. I came across a ring dish that coordinated with my other jewelry storage solutions. Mine is the same silhouette as this one but it is gold. I like that I can just slide my rings on the “cactus” for safe keeping.
